Dear Valued Customer,
This very important notice is to inform you that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) (10 CFR Part 430) has established a minimum efficiency standard for residential central air conditioners of SEER 13 (SEER is Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio - a measure of air conditioner efficiency) which will take effect January 23, 2006 . Under this new standard, energy used by new air conditioners will be reduced by 23 percent relative to the current standard.
Reducing peak demand by 45,000 megawatts by 2020 and saving consumers approximately $5 billion over the period of 2006-2030. It will also reduce air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, saving about 8 million metric tons of carbon in 2020, which is equivalent to taking more than 3 million vehicles off the road.
What this means to our customers is that since manufacturers will no longer be allowed to produce any system under a 13 SEER as of January 23 we will no longer be able to purchase 10 or 12 SEER systems. Also preliminary government research indicates that the 13 SEER systems will increase in price by $300 to $400 nationally, local prices may vary. By Florida code we will be allowed to sell and install our in stock 10 & 12 SEER systems until mid-summer. And, of course, we will continue to service any systems under the 10 SEER rating.
We at Frank's thank you for your continued business. And if you have any questions regarding this or any other air conditioning need or concerns please feel free to give us a call a 407-870-7755.
At your service,
Dean Bullock , Operations Manager
